from CPOP:

CPOP Gallery ©POP, one of the very first galleries inspired by and dedicated solely to the promotion and exhibition of an entirely new aesthetic genre – an art movement based in the visual vocabulary of popular culture – announces, “It’s All About ©”, the final exhibition at its Detroit location, with a gala farewell opening- Saturday, May 2nd, 2009, 6PM until 11PM.

This cultural beacon will celebrate a more than ten year run at its iconic space, which is world renowned for hosting legendary events, with yet another historic showcase. The work by many of the greats who made ©POP an internationally recognized name, as well as many whom the gallery has helped raise to global acclaim, will be presented in an exhibition of unrivaled creative magnitude. Artists include:

Many of the artists will be in attendance to show their support of this groundbreaking Detroit institution. It will be a rare opportunity, and possibly the last for a long time, in which local audiences can enjoy first-hand the work of these artists. Their presence bears witness to the truly monumental cultural significance of ©POP for the region and world.

Nevertheless, with the fire of its mission still fiercely burning, the gallery will continue to internationally promote and exhibit what it considers to be the most important global cultural movement in history. By focusing on web and print based resources, alternative exhibition opportunities, and entertainment programming, ©POP will move further forward as the leader of this aesthetic movement, which it considers to be too often misrepresented and misunderstood even by those media and promotional vehicles that seek to promote it. So look forcpop.comto launch later this spring and for more exciting announcements from ©POP later in the year.

"It’s All About ©" runs through mid-June.
